CV
Dr Nada Abdel Aziz is a Lecturer at Faculty of Science, Cairo University, Egypt, and a Research Fellow at University of Cape Town (UCT), South Africa. She obtained her PhD in Clinical Sciences and Immuno-Biotechnology from UCT in 2018 and her doctoral work focused on the role Interleukin-4 receptor alpha-signalling pathway on Foxp3+ regulatory T cells to control helminth-induced tissue damage. Her work has been focused on immune regulation against helminth-induced tissue destruction and she has been publishing in international prestigious and well-reputed journals. Dr. Abdel Aziz has got several accolades for her findings from national and international prestigious organizations like the American Association of Immunologists, the International Union of Immunological Societies, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, L’OREAL UNESCO For Women In Science, and most recently she received the AAS-ARISE Fellowship to establish herself as an early career scientist.
Dr Abdel Aziz’s long-term aspiration is to advance our knowledge about immune regulation underlying helminth pathogenesis. She aims to develop novel research avenues that therapeutically harness immune-regulatory arms to control helminth-induced tissue damage, train young scientists, and conduct research informing policy decisions to improve human health.
