Udochukwu B. Akuru obtained the Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from Stellenbosch University (SU), South Africa, in December 2017, and both the MEng and BEng degrees from University of Nigeria, Nsukka, in June 2013 and August 2008, respectively. He was postdoc fellow from 2018 to 2019 at SU. He was active with University of Nigeria from 2011 to 2019. In 2020, he joined Tshwane University of Technology (TUT), South Africa, as senior lecturer. He is a registered engineer (COREN, Nigeria), Senior Member of IEEE and SAIEE, as well as South Africa NRF rated researcher. His main research interest is in electrical machines design for renewable energy applications. Over the years, Dr Akuru has received several grants and awards numbering over thirty-five including being Federal Government of Nigeria Scholar during his master's study, Jorma Luomi Student Forum Awardee at the International Conference on Electrical Machines in 2018, TUT faculty of engineering emerging researcher in 2019/2020, best student paper prize award in rotating machines at SAUPEC 2021 and TWAS-DFG fellow in 2022. To date, he has published sixty-five peer reviewed journal and conference papers while having been involved in regional, national and international events/projects with organisations such as DSI, GET/DAAD, UNIDO, Mathematica and REN21, to mention a few. He also acts as reviewer and editor to major international journals and conferences, being tack electric machines chair for IEEE-ECCE since 2020.
