CV
Ms. Adelaide Asante is currently the Chief Operating Officer at the African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) Ghana and leads the operational systems and Industry Engagement and Partnerships of the Institute. She holds a Bsc Agric Engineering from KNUST, Ghana and an Msc Resources Engineering from KIT, Germany. Prior to joining AIMS Ghana, she worked for more that 10 years at the Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ghana as an STI policy and programme advisor, where she rose to become the Director STI in 2016. During her time at the Ministry she led in a number of inititatives (such as the development of Ghana's first STI policy, the establishment of the Ghana Space Science and Technology Institute and the Ghana Radio Astronomy Observatory, the establishment of the Presidential Advisory Council for STI (where she currently serves as the interim secretary), the establsihment of 5 Technology Transfer Centers etc) that helped built the STI system in Ghana
Since joining AIMS Ghana, Ms Asante has led in a number of partnership agreements such as agreement with Google Research on Masters Sponsored Research Agreement, the MOU between AIMS Ghana and ICMAT, spain. She also leads the national Advocacy programme on the 2017 UNESCO's Recommendation on Science and Scientific Researchers.
Ms. Asante has a passion for STI and STEM education and thus also serves on some boards of some STEM organization such as the Kumasi Hive and Elsie Kaufmann Foundation.
