Wayne Barnes holds a Master’s degree in Virology which he obtained with distinction from University of Pretoria.  Wayne is an experienced sales professional with a passion for strategic planning and business development.  He is currently serving as Senior Territory Manager at Illumina for the SADC Region. Among his achievements is the deployment of next generation sequencing in private pathology labs in South Africa and the expansion of infectious disease genotyping in resource limited settings. He shares Illumina’s mission of unlocking the power of the African genome by enabling access to genomic solution in Africa. His dream is for each African to have access to his/her genomic data.
