M.E.J. BASSEY has been an accomplished Scientist, Bureaucrat, Policy maker, Technocrat and Federal Civil Servant since the late 80`s in the Nigerian Armed Forces Reference Hospital, 44, Kaduna on National Assignment as a Youth Corper in the Clinical Pathology Laboratory; through 1993 as Senior Scientific Officer and rose to the post of Director and Head of Department, Chemical Technology, Federal Ministry Science, Technology and Innovation in the Federal Civil Service of Nigeria.

In the past, he has worked as a Microbiologist, Scientific Officer, with vast local and global training in Administration, Strategic Planning, Policy and Project Development and Management, Public Health, Logistics and Supply Chain Management. He was the Head & National Coordinator, Chemicals Management Programme, Food & Drugs Department in the Federal Ministry of Health.

He has served on the Boards of Notable Federal Establishments namely: National Universities Commission, Federal Medical Centre Katsina, National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education and currently sits as Representative of Honorable Minister of Science and Technology on the Governing Boards of NIIPS-Kuru Jos; Airforce Training Institute Kaduna; and as Overseeing Director for Federal Institute of Industrial Research Oshodi, National Research Institute for Chemical Technology, Geoscience. 

He has been privileged to attend and participate in foreign meetings, trainings, workshops and capacity building Programmes that have translated into him being versed in very many areas with relevant skills and competencies required.  

He is married with four boys and a grandson.
