My name is Tina Chunga, I am a Chemical Engineer working at the CSIR in the Agroprocessing unit. My work involves R&D in the process and product development of agricultural raw material informed through the indigenous knowldge system (IKS). I develop, analyse and optimise extraction, filtration and distillation processes. I have worked with essential oils like rose geranium and thyme oil as well as processing bioactive ingredients from African ginger, Atermisia afra and cannanis plants. I have also authored a journal article in the Open Journal of Pain Medicice. 

Besides my daily work, I am part of the CSIR Youth Forum Committee where we encourage the career development of young professionals. 

I have presented at the CSIR Emerging Researhcer Symposium and have been invited to present my work at the 9th International Conference on Herbal and Traditional Plant Medicine in Japan. My project was also selected on the Global Grad Show taking place in Dubai. 

I am a young professional that is willing to learn and collabotate within the science community.
