Prof. Henry Fadamiro is a Professor of Entomology and Associate Vice President for Research at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas, USA. Previously, he served as Associate Director & Chief Scientific Officer of Texas A&M AgriLife Research and as Associate Dean for Research for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. Prof. Fadamiro received his B.S and M.S. degrees in Biology from the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Nigeria. In 1992, he was awarded a Rhodes scholarship to study at Oxford University, U.K, where he received a Ph.D. degree in Entomology in 1995. Prof. Fadamiro previously worked as a researcher at several institutions including International Institute of Tropical Agriculture, Ibadan, Iowa State University, University of Minnesota, Minnesota Department of Agriculture, and Auburn University. Prof. Fadamiro has received over $20 million in research grants and published over 125 scientific publications and several other articles. His publications have been cited widely and his research has resulted in patents and innovations. His groundbreaking research in chemical and physiological mechanisms of plant-insect and tritrophic interactions have impacted pest management programs across the globe. He has mentored over 40 postgraduate students including scores of African scholars. Prof. Fadamiro’s academic accomplishments have been recognized globally with various awards and prizes. He was named fellow of the Royal Entomological Society in 2010 and elected fellow of the African Academy of Sciences in 2021. Prof. Fadamiro has been recognized for his significant contributions to the advancement of science and human capacity development in Africa.
