Dr. Tesfaye Gintamo is a registered professional (Pr. Sci. Nat., Ph.D.) scientist in earth sciences and water resources. Dr. Gintamo's research interests focus on better understanding the complex interactions of groundwater, climate, and environment in an urban context. His doctoral research focuses on three aspects: Determining that changes in key climate factors such as temperature, precipitation, and sea level rise affect groundwater quality by influencing the hydrologic regime in the Cape Flats Aquifer system; assessing groundwater vulnerability using the DRASTIC index and the groundwater quality index method with some water quality parameters, and developed a GIS-based approach to quantify the risk of groundwater contamination under changing climate variables and land use. He also has over 15 years of professional experience studying, planning, and managing water supply and sanitation projects, working on donor-funded projects with diverse partners, and working in a multicultural and multiethnic environment. Dr. Gintamo's research skills include hydrogeology, GIS, hydrology, geospatial analysis, climate change, remote sensing, groundwater vulnerability mapping, groundwater contamination risk, and groundwater quality index. Dr. Gintamo has good interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain good working relationships. He is a member of the Golden Key International Honour Society. He is also a reviewer for the international journal Earth Sciences (EARTH).
