Prof Jamie Goggins is a Chartered Engineer with more than 20 years of experience in consultancy, construction, expert advisory work and research on many projects worldwide. He is Director of Construct Innovate, Ireland’s national research centre for Construction Technology and Innovation (www.constructinnovate.ie), which brings together 22 multidisciplinary research groups across 5 partner institutions, with over 300 researchers currently research active on topics related to construction & built environment. He is also a Principal Investigator in the MaREI Centre for Energy, Climate & Marine (www.marei.ie), which includes for 13 Universities, ca. 220 researchers and 50 industry partners. He was appointed Professor of Civil Engineering at University of Galway in 2020, where he also serves as Director of Research & Innovation in the School of Engineering. He also led the development and delivery of the first two Sustainability Strategies for the university in his role as Chair of CUSP (www.universityofgalway.ie/sustainability). He has been lead principal investigator on over 50 research projects, most in collaboration with industry. Prof Goggins served on the Board of the Civil Engineering Research Association of Ireland (CERAI) from 2012-22 and is former President and Chair of the CERAI Board (www.cerai.net). He is also actively involved in Engineers Ireland, the professional body for Engineers in Ireland, serving as elected member of Council (2016-20).
