Amina Hamshari is working for the Social and Human Sciences Unit at UNESCO Regional Office for Southern Africa in Harare, Zimbabwe. In 2018 she launched “Art-Lab for Human Rights and Dialogue” to advance human rights and dignity through the transformative power of the arts practice, as a catalyst for social justice and cohesion, mainly in humanitarian and development contexts. Based on the results and approach of Art-Lab, Antonio Guterres, the UN Secretary-General, entrusted UNESCO to develop a UN Plan: “Arts for dignity, justice and peace” across all UN programmes in 2021.
