Dr. Eric Howard has 30-year career has primarily been with sustainability-oriented nonprofits, often working on organizational growth, strategic planning, and collaborations with like-minded organizations and individuals. He guided the development of partnerships, bringing members and stakeholders into new and existing programs and initiatives that will have a positive impact on communities.
Dr. Howard joined the Timber Framers Guild as Executive Director in March 2022. The Guild engages companies, agencies, campuses, and individuals worldwide to support the use of wood in construction. His prior experience includes 10 years as Executive Director of the Fulbright Academy of Science & Technology, four years in corporate outreach for Northeastern University's College of Engineering, three years as strategic partnerships manager for a national nonprofit dedicated to energy efficiency and climate action at colleges and universities. He has also worked with the UN Environment Program, UNESCO, IUCN, Oxfam, US AID, US Dept. of State, US National Science Foundation, Maine Technology Institute, Massachusetts Technology Collaborative, and similar agencies on four continents. Howard had fellowships at World Wildlife Fund and the US EPA, and a Fulbright scholarship to Germany. Also affiliated with Making Tomorrow, he has attended previous WSF gatherings in Budapest and Amman.
