Abu Bakar Md. Ismail is a Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh. He earned a Ph.D. from Saga University, Japan, where he worked in advanced instrumentation. Later he worked for two years as a postdoctoral researcher at the Institute of Industrial and Scientific Research (ISIR), Osaka University, as a NEDO researcher. Professor Ismail served as the Director of the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Chairman of the department, and the Director of the Central Science Laboratory of University Rajshahi.
Professor Ismail also served as an Associate Professor in the Electronics Engineering department of Fatih University, Istanbul, Turkey. His research interest is energy materials and nanotechnology. The development of novel inorganic and organic semiconductor thin films and nanostructures for solar cells and sensors is his passion.
Professor Ismail is a Fellow member of the Bangladesh Physical Society and an honorable member of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). He also serves as an advisor in various governmental forums for the advancement of science, technology, and education in Bangladesh.
