Dr Fides Izdori (PhD Engineering (Infrastructure and the Environment)) is a Postdoctoral Fellow with the Food Systems Research Network for Africa (FSNet-Africa) at the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. She is a Water and sanitation expert, and lectures at the department of Water Resources Engineering. She has over 13 years’ experience in research and capacity building projects through lecturing, supervision and mentoring of both undergraduate and postgraduate students. Her interests are in water and sanitation, including resource recovery from wastes and promotion of cleaner production approaches. She is a problem solver who is not afraid to push boundaries, loves to explore new territories and think outside the box. Her previous research experience includes assessing the impact of climate change to water resources in Tanzania, specifically for hydropower generation in Mtera dam, water availability in lake Rukwa and lake water levels and livelihood in Lake Victoria. She also works with different institutions in Tanzania including water basins as a consultant. She has been involved in preparation of Lake Victoria basin water resources management and development plan (IWRMDP), and preparation of the Rufiji basin water quality monitoring programme as a water quality expert.
