Laila Linde Lossius work for the Norwegian Directorate for Higher Education and Skills (HK-dir), where she administers several funding schemes for collaboration between Higher Educational Institutions in Norway and selected countries outside Europe, as Brazil, Canada, China, India, Japan, South Korea, South Africa, and the USA.
Lossius is educated as a Fisheries Scientists from University of Bergen (UIB) and worked some years with Ocean Research and Fisheries Technology in Namibia and Norway before gradually working her way into the Oil and Gas industry. There she worked as Project Manager and HSEQ Engineer in several companies involved in installation and maintenance of Subsea Equipment and was also involved in Environmental reporting and calculations at an LNG plant.
At Western Norway University of Applied Sciences (HVL), Lossius worked as an Assistant Professor and Coordinator for an Engineering programme in Subsea Technology, allowing all students internships in local industries as part of their studies. Work integrated learning is still part of Lossius’ work at HK-dir, but in a more international arena.
Lossius has worked with International Collaboration in Higher Education for several years at UIB and HVL before starting at the Norwegian Centre for Internationalisation of Education (SIU) in 2016. Through organisational changes SIU later became Directorate for Internationalisation and Quality Enhancement in Higher Education (Diku), which again became HK-dir in 2021.
