Dr Ndivhuwo Luruli is the Executive Director: Research & Innovation at the University of Johannesburg. Her portfolio includes four Units/Departments – Research Administration; Research Intelligence; Strategic Research Support; and Technology Transfer Office. Dr Luruli joined UJ in June 2019 as Director: Strategic Research Support where she was responsible among many things for the implementation of general research support programmes for the university community. Dr Luruli holds a PhD in Science and Technology Studies from the Centre for Research on Evaluation, Science and Technology (CREST), as well as an MSc (cum laude) in Conservation Ecology from Stellenbosch University. Prior to joining UJ, Dr Luruli was appointed as Director: BRICS & Research at the National Institute for the Humanities and Social Sciences (NIHSS). In this role, Dr Luruli was also responsible for the coordination of academic BRICS activities under the South African BRICS Think Tank (SABTT). She has also worked as Deputy Director in the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) where she managed the DHET Research Outputs Policy as well as the Higher Education HIV AIDS Programme (HEAIDS, now Higher Health). At the National Research Foundation (NRF), she was appointed as a Programme Officer under the University Capacity Development Programme; and has also worked as a Consultant in Research Administration for a private university in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
