Currently the Communication and Marketing Specialist: Internal Communication and eResearchat the University of Cape Town's Research Office and a recent master's graduate from the University of Stellenbosch.Previously I worked as the communications coordinator and research uptake officer for ASSET - a National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Unit on Health System Strengthening in Sub-Saharan Africa. I was based at the Alan J Flisher Centre for Public Mental Health (CPMH) at the University of Cape Town.Coming from a background in journalism I hope to use my knowledge of the media landscape together with my ever-growing body of knowledge on health care systems to influence policy on national and international scale.I also served on the Rural Mental Health Campaign Committee and as well as the Mental Health Innovation Network team in an effort to establish an Africa Network. I'm a fierce advocate for the integration of mental health care into primary care, the inclusion of mental healthcare into UHC and equal opportunities for the disabled.
