Thapelo Maseko is a Laboratory Technician at Nelson Mandela University (NMU), DSI-Mandela Nanomedicine Platform, Faculty of Health Science. He completed his BSc Biotechnology degree at The University of the Western Cape. While completing his degree, he did different modules which include Chemistry (Organic, Inorganic and Analytical), Biology, Mathematics, Statistics, Biochemistry, Human Biology, Microbiology and Industrial Biotechnology.
He was involved in the National Youth Service Program created by the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI) in collaboration with the South African Agency for Science and Technology Advancement (SAASTA) and he was placed at Nabio Consulting where he worked as a Nanomedicine Ambassador. During his course as a Nanomedicine Ambassador, he participated in the FameLab science communication competition. He attended an advanced Nanomedicine short course hosted by the University of Barcelona in Spain and received a certificate of attendance.
As a Nanomedicine Ambassador, he got exposed to different science communication platforms including radio interviews, webinars and giving online lectures.
