Dr Motodi Maserumule is a member of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) executive committee team. He holds the position of Group Executive in charge of the CSIR Advanced Production and Security Division. The Division consists of the Defence & Security, Manufacturing, and Mining clusters. Motodi holds a Ph.D. (Mathematics) from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (2002), Troy, New York. He holds an MSc (Mathematics) from Clark Atlanta University (1993), Atlanta, Georgia and BSc (Mathematics) from Morris Brown College (1991), Atlanta, Georgia. Motodi also holds Managing Technology Enterprises qualification from IMD (2008), Lauzanne, Switzerland.
Motodi’s spans over three decades in research, development and innovation as a researcher or in leadership positions.
Motodi’s employment history includes, but is not limited to, the following leadership positions:
- Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa (NECSA) as Group Executive for Research & Development.
- Council for Scientific and Industrial Research:
- Group Executive for CSIR Advanced Production & Security Division (2019 to present)
- Executive Director for CSIR Defence Peace Safety & Security (DPSS) Operating Unit (2017 to 2019).
- Executive Director for CSIR Modeling & Digital Science Operating Unit (2009 to 2014)
- Acting Executive Director for CSIR Modeling & Digital Science Operating Unit (2008 to 2009).
- Competency Area Manager for CSIR DPSS Aeronautic Systems Competency Area (2005 to 2007).
