Frank is a Professional Officer within the Research Chairs and Centres of Excellence (RCCE) Directorate of the National Research Foundation. Frank has an undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the University of the North Qwaqwa Campus; holds an Honours degree in Polymer Chemistry, focusing on High Density Polyethylene from the University of the Free State; and is currently finishing his MPhil degree in Science and Technology studies with Stellenbosch University. He has worked in the Knowledge Advancement and Support (previously Knowledge Fields Development) directorate at the NRF in various roles and with various funding instruments since 2007 until 2013. Since joining the NRF in 2005 as a Liaison Officer at the ICSU, Frank has GAINED 17 years of experience in Research Management and Administration at the National Research Foundation, and currently provides support in management of DSI-NRF Centres of Excellence Funding Instrument and the Flagships Funding Instrument.
