Dr. Neeraj Mistry is the Deputy Director at Future Africa, University of Pretoria’s pan-African platform for collaborative research that works across scientific fields and disciplines and with society to address Africa’s biggest and most urgent contemporary challenges. He is a global public health leader with over 20 years of executive experience in non-profits, businesses, academia, and UN organizations. He was in the Department of International Healthon at Georgetown University in Washington DC and consults on various aspects of health and development strategies.
Dr. Mistry completed his medical training at University of the Witwatersrand Medical School and worked in occupational health in mining, and in South Africa’s public and private health sectors. He joined the National Health Service and private health care in the UK and completed a Master’s in Economics and Policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science. This training and experience led to an internationally-focused career with global non-profits, multinational corporations, and UN agencies, with national and regional policy work in the United States and across Latin America, Africa, Asia, and Europe. Dr. Mistry has previously served as the Medical Director of the Global Business Coalition on HIV/AIDS, TB and Malaria, and the Managing Director of the Global Network for Neglected Tropical Diseases. He recently completed a Masters in Ayurvedic Medicine and relocated to South Africa at the end of 2020.
