Dr Dithoto Modungwa is a mechatronics engineer by training. Holds a PhD in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from University of Johannesburg, South Africa and was a post-doctoral fellow at Tel Aviv University in Israel. Currently she is a Research Group Leader in Landward Science Competency Area of the Defence and Security Cluster of the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) South Africa. She is currently involved in research and development in vehicle mobility and unmanned systems with applications in the Defence space.
As an engineer and leader presenting over 10 years of extensive experience in research, development and implementation of solutions contributing towards inclusive and sustainable advancement of industry and society through innovation, She has gained exposure and proficiency in analysis, design, development, and implementation of diverse multi-disciplinary systems including application of key technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, 5G, Augmented Reality (AR), quantum computing, advanced modelling and simulation (M&S), internet-of-things (IoT), and focusing on different stages of product development process, from conceptual generation through to commercialisation of cutting-edge solutions across various sectors.
Dithoto has established collaboration networks both locally and internationally with research and development institutions. Currently co-supervising and mentoring postgraduate students.
