Dr Thabang Mokgethi-Morule is the founder and managing director of Bind Biotech, a South African bioscience start-up that develops innovative immunology reagents and diagnostic products for life science, health, veterinary and agricultural markets using the novel chicken antibody (IgY) technology. She holds a PhD in Immunology from Strathclyde university (UK), and MSc (Med) in Pharmacology from University of Cape Town (SA) specialising in infectious and neglected tropical diseases. She has extensive experience spanning both academia and industry internationally. She has a passion for exploring the commercialisation of innovative scientific technologies to address primary health and social challenges in resource limited settings, and to support the growth and development of the local bioeconomy.
