Through the Postdoctoral fellowship, Dr Mpai s role is to boost the research output of the university through conducting research, student supervisory and mentorship, engage in collaborative research within the field of Plant production and assisting final BSc students on their research projects. Dr Mpai is a Tshwane University of Technology  alumni, meaning that she had a great time in her life as a student of TUT. She started her undergraduate education in 2012 at the Crop Sciences department and completed in record time in 2015. From here, she developed the love for the agricultural postharvest quality and enrolled for an MTech in the same university and her dissertation was awarded a cum laude in 2017. She immediately in 2018 registered for a PhD in science which was awarded to her in the year 2021. Furthermore, she had been a recipient of various awards during her postgraduate education including the 2016-2017 NRF-SARchi Chair grant for her master’s degree, NRF-freestanding doctoral bursary and  NRF-Innovation postdoctoral bursary. Her research focus is based on improving yield and quality  attributes without compromising the nutrition and metabolites composition of horticultural crops. Ten honors, seven MSc students enrolled under her co-supervision has been achieved. Nine of these honours students graduated in 2021, 1 MSc graduated in 2022. Her supervised students has presented at SAAB, UL faculty research day, and IPUF. Six publications have been authored by Dr Mpai.
