Michelle Mukonyora is passionate about developing cutting-edge technology to solve healthcare problems in low-resource communities. Michelle is a Falling Walls Lab 2022 Winner for her idea to develop affordable and non-invasive tools to manage gestational diabetes. She recently competed in the Fuel Africa Entrepreneurship Bootcamp sponsored by AstraZeneca and she is currently a participant in the BuildUp Science Accelerator for African scientist entrepreneurs. Michelle believes in the power of science communication to empower upcoming African scientists. She runs a life science blog, has presented at the International Pint of Science Festival, and takes part in science outreach programmes.

Michelle is a Zimbabwean PhD (Medicine) candidate at the University of Cape Town. Her background is in biotechnology and computational biology.
