Dr Nazeem Mustapha

Dr Mustapha holds a PhD in Applied Mathematics from the University of Cape Town. He currently leads the R&D measurement and analysis programme within the Centre for Science, Technology and Innovation Indicators (CeSTII) of the Human sciences Research Council in South Africa. Dr Mustapha led the development of research into the measurement of innovation in the informal sector at the Centre, which is his primary research interest currently. In the recent past he has also opened up new areas of measurement and research on intellectual property and technology transfer in publicly funded institutions, and on the innovation capabilities of State-Owned Enterprises. In addition to participation in conferences on innovation, Dr Mustapha regularly interacts with innovation policy makers routinely in his work function and also has advised provincial and national bodies on innovation measurement in his personal capacity.
