Prof Parawira is a full Professor of Microbiology. He holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Lund University, Sweden, MSc in Biotechnology and BSc in Biological Sciences from University of Zimbabwe. He is the Deputy CEO of the Zimbabwe Council For Higher Education since September 2022. He was the Pro Vice Chancellor of Bindura University of Science Education (2018-2022) and Executive Dean of the Faculty of Science at the same University (2012-2018). In his academic career, he has published more than 50 publications in international peer reviewed journals, supervised several PhD and MSc students. His research interestes are in Environemental Biotechnology; food microbiology; fermentation technology; biufuels; science, technology and innovation policies and their effeciveness. He was the individual local eaxpert  UNESCO consultant for the Global Observatory of Science, Technology, Innovation Policy Instruments (GO-SPIN) survey, STI commercialisation policy instruments and STI monitoring and data base model for Zimbabwe for the UNESCO-SIDA project in 2014. He is the Individual local expert for the UNESO-SIDA project on "Strengthening Science, Technology and Innovation Systems for Sustainable in Africa with specific reference to Zimbabwe 2021-2022.
