My name is Mellisa Pemhenukai .l am a lady aged 26. I hold a BSc Honors Degree in Geography and Environmental Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe (2020). I am currently employed as a Program Officer (Sustainable Agriculture and Natural Resources Management, Geographic Information Systems) with a local Non Governmental Organization operational in the Eastern Highlands of Manicaland Province,Zimbabwe. The main program area for the organization l am currently working for is sustainable agriculture and natural resources management. Main activities include the promotion of agro ecology within the smallholder farming sector, use of innovative Holistic Land and Livestock Management (HLLM) as a tool for regenerating degraded grazing areas and of course the use of GIS and Remote Sensing data as tools for biological monitoring for changes occuring in the impacted landscapes. My current work also involves working with community grassroots structures in watershed management activities driven by what we call Climate Change Action Groups, especially given that water scarcity is one of the key threats facing communities in the face of climate change. I was recently a active member in the team that worked on the nomination dossier for Chimanimani Biosphere Reserve (the second one in Zimbabwe ,nominated June 15,2022). My working experience now marks 3 years in the environmental sector.
