Dr Rashamuse holds the position of Chief Director: Innovation Priorities and Instruments within the Technology Innovation Branch of the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI). responsible for strategic leadership in the development of - market and business intelligence capability for the DSI and the national system of innovation; ongoing research capabilities to ensure that local innovation and technology commercialisation is positioned for competitiveness and sustained economic growth; and mechanisms to facilitate increased cooperation with private sector stakeholders to foster innovation and technology commercialisation.
Before joining the Innovation Instruments Chief Directorate, Dr Rashamuse served as the Director of the Industrial Bioeconomy and was responsible for the strategic leadership of the bio-economy in respect of the industrial and environment sectors, and the coordination and management of the industry and environment implementation plans.
Dr Rashamuse holds a PhD (Applied Biotechnology) degree from the University of the Western Cape, a Master’s degree in Technology Management from the University of Pretoria and an LLB degree from the University of South Africa (UNISA).
