Geraldine Reymenants (° 1975) is the Diplomatic Representative of Flanders in Southern Africa since July 2014. The Diplomatic Representation, representing the region of Flanders in seven countries in Southern Africa, with a specific focus on South Africa, Malawi and Mozambique, is responsible for supporting and facilitating all official contacts between the Government of Flanders (Belgium) and its partner countries, and promotes, supports and engages in, amongst others, arts and culture, development cooperation, education, science and innovation, human rights and youth policy.

 

Before she joined the Flanders Chancellery & Foreign Office in 2012, Geraldine worked as research coordinator at the Belgian Institute for the Equality of Women and Men (2005-2011), and as researcher in gender studies at Ghent University, Belgium (1999-2004). She has a Master’s degree in History (Ghent University, 1997) and a Postgraduate degree in Women’s Studies (University of Antwerp and Utrecht University, 1998). She also holds a PhD in history from Ghent University (2005).
