Ivan Rios joined the Department of State in 2005.  He is currently heads the ESTH Unit within the Economic Section at the U.S. Embassy in Pretoria.  He arrived in South Africa after serving as Foreign Policy Advisor to the Northern Command and the North American Air Defense Command (NORTHCOM/NORAD) in Colorado Springs.  He completed a Master of Science and Technology Intelligence at the National Intelligence University in July 2019.  Ivan previously served as Course Coordinator of the Economic and Commercial Studies Division at the Foreign Service Institute in Arlington, VA, as Economic/Commercial Officer at the U.S. Embassy Windhoek, as Trade Officer at the U.S. Embassy Bogota, as Consular Officer at the U.S. Consulate Recife, and Environment, Science, Technology and Health Officer at the U.S. Embassy Mexico City.
