Paula Saner is the Research Integrity Manager at the University of Cape Town’s (UCT) Office of Research Integrity (ORI). She holds a Master of Arts in Classics from UCT. In 2014, she joined the ORI as its Senior Administrative Officer, focussed on supporting the ORI’s compliance programme. As the RI Manager, Paula coordinates the activities of the ORI and maintains external relationships with key government stakeholders. Paula provides support to the Senate Ethics Committees and develops, co-ordinates and manages the university’s “responsible conduct of research” (RCR) training programme. She facilitates training in RCR for the UCT community; advises researchers on research integrity matters and helps to ensure a robust and up-to-date research integrity policy environment. Paula served on the Local Organising Committee for the 7th World Conference on Research Integrity, hosted in Cape Town in May/June 2022.
Paula was awarded an International Research Exchanges Board (IREX) University Administration Support Programme (UASP) Research Management Fellowship to explore different methods of RCR training in the US in February/March 2019. This experience informed the development and implementation of UCT’s RCR programme.
