Dr. Motlalepula Tait is a Manager-Research Development and Outreach at the Botswana University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN) in Botswana. She is the Chairperson and founder of the Organization for Women in Science for Developing World-Botswana National Chapter (OWSD-BW National Chapter). She is a member of the Botswana Academy of Sciences, Joint Committee on Science, Research and Technology and National Focal person for Biosafety Clearing House on genetically modified organisms (GMOs). In addition, Dr. tait is a technocrats member of the International Joint Committee on Science Research and Technology
Dr. Tait holds PhD-Plant Biotechnology with the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. Prior to her current managerial position, Dr Tait served as a Senior Research Scientist with the Department of Agricultural Research in Botswana. Her work focused on elucidatiing the underlying molecular mechanisms associated with both abiotic and biotic stresses in crop plants as well as studies on the genetic biodiverity of crop plants. Through partneships and collaborative projects, Dr Tait (formerly Pholo) has published a substantive number of articles in peer revieewed journals as an ealry career researcher.
Dr. Tait in currently involved in different science and innovation platforms at national platforms, which deals with both national and international cooperatiions on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programmes.
