Dr Monnamme Tlotleng holds a Doctor of Engineering Degree from the University of Johannesburg, South Africa in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. Dr Tlotleng registered for his D. Eng in July, 2012 with a thesis titled: Laser-Assisted Cold Sprayed Titanium-Hydroxyapatite Biocomposite. In 2014, Monnamme’s thesis was received and a no viva was granted in May, 2015. Monnamme Tlotleng joined the CSIR as a graduate student in August, 2011. This was after completing his MSc degree in Chemical Engineering from Wits University (2010) and interning with Department of Energy (2011). Currently, Dr Tlotleng is a Principal Researcher at the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in Pretoria, South Africa, Associate Senior Researcher at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), Department of Mechanical Engineering Science in the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment and a Fellow at the African Science Leadership Programme. His current interests are in Applied Research and focus on Laser Metal Additive Manufacturing (or 3D Printing of Metals and alloy), Alloy development and related science scopes. Dr Tlotleng has supervised 2-PhDs and 7-MSc from Southern Universities including Botswana International University of Science and Technology. He is a Deputy General Secretary of the Black Science, Technology & Engineering Professionals (BSTEP) South Africa. He has publsihed numerous ISI journals and 2 book chapters.
