CV
Dr Tawanda Zininga ia a Biomedical Scietist who is working as a Lecturer at Stellenbosch University. He holds a PhD in Biochemistry from the University of Venda (2016) MSc in Molecular Biology from Staffordshire University (UK) [2012] and a Bachelors Honours degree in Medical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Zimbabwe [2005]. His current research interests are on stress biology, where he seeks to understand how cells and organisms survive under stress. He mainly uses the main malaria agent, Plasmodium falciprum as a model organism to elucidate the features that make these parasites to survive under stress in the human host when exposed to fever and drug pressure. Lessons from these organisms will be used for designing novel inhibitors as potential antimalarial theraperutics. He has supervised and co-supervised 3 PhD, 8 MSc and 13 honours students to date. He has an h-index of 12 [Scopus] and 14 [Google scholar] from 23 peer reviewed articles and 1 book chapter he co-authored.
