Paulina Carmona-Mora, PhD, Research Scientist, Department of Neurology/MIND Institute, University of California-Davis, Sacramento, CA, USA. Member of the Global Young Academy. Biochemist (Chile) and PhD in Medical Sciences (Australia) working on gene regulation in human disease. Currently studying gene profiles after stroke that can support a prompt, easy and accurate diagnosis at the point of care. She is a mentor for under-represented scientists. She volunteered for Ekpa’palek for five years, a non-profit organization dedicated to the empowerment of Latin American students, where she served as representative for North and Central America and for the UN-Youth Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN). She coleads the Science Diplomacy in the Americas group at the Global Young Academy, and the inaugural Science Leadership program for Latin America and the Caribbean.
