Mehita Iqani is the South African Research Chair in Science Communication at Stellenbosch University. In this role, she leads a research agenda summarised as “science communication for social justice”. Her PhD in Media and Communications is from the London School of Economics & Political Science. She is currently the Deputy President of the South African Communications Association. She is Associate Editor of the journal Consumption Markets & Culture, co-editor of the International Journal of Cultural Studies, and on the editorial boards of Cultural Politics and Communication Theory, and regularly reviews for several others. She is the author and editor of several books on media, consumer culture, luxury, waste, and the Global South.
