Rasigan Maharajh is the Chief Director of the Institute for Economic Research on Innovation; Associate Research Fellow of the Tellus Institute; and an elected Member of the Academy of Science of South Africa. Rasigan holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree from Lund University whilst also alumnus of the University of Natal and Harvard University. Rasigan is a Ministerial Representative to the Council of Rhodes University, Senator of Tshwane University of Technology, and member of the Education Sub-Committee of the National Education, Health, and Allied Workers Union. Rasigan’s work advances the critique of political economy as he studies the relationship between the: accumulation of Knowledge, praxis of Development, and challenges of Sustainability. Rasigan has contributed to more than 65 publications and has presented his research in 42 countries. In 2022, Rasigan’ work in progress includes:  Deputy Chair of the Academy of Science of South Africa Forum on the Just Transition, Convenor of Tshwane University of Technology’ Senate Task Team on Climate Change, Africa Regional Expert on Digital for the United Nations Industrial Development Organization, and Chairperson of the National Advisory Committee on Innovation Reference Group for the 2023 South Africa Science, Technology, and Innovation Indicators.
