Dr Henry Roman – Director: Environmental Services and Technologies. Department of Science and Innovation

Henry Roman holds a PhD in Biotechnology from Rhodes University, South Africa, specialising in the bioremediation of acid mine drainage.  He has 17 years’ experience in the National System of Innovation in various roles with 11 of these at the Department of Science and Innovation (DSI).  Henry has led the development of two Roadmaps related to the Green Economy ambitions of South Africa, to guide research, development and innovation in the water and waste sectors. He is a member of the Advisory Panel for Sustainable Seas Trust, a Steering Committee Member of the Partnership for Action on Green Economy (PAGE-SA) as well as the Switch Africa Green Programme in South Africa. He is currently working on developing an STI Framework for Circular Economy.
